Epona in Budapest Castle

Vienna, Austria has the Spanish Riding School at the Hofburg, a traditional riding school for Lipizzan horses. The riding school was first named during the Austrian Empire in 1572 and the horses original studs, which used to develop the breed was Lipizza, now called Lipica, near Trieste in modern Slovenia, which gave its name to the breed, nowadays they are breed in Austria.
The hungarian Spanish Riding School of Hungarian  Royal Guards was established already in 1939.They regularly held special shows in front of a huge audience, for example in the riding school built especially for this purpose at the Castle of Buda. However, the riding school could only operate for a short period of time, because history put an end to the activity of the riders and horses. Not only the riders and the horses but also the buildings of the riding school disappeared from the Castle.
Nowadays we have got Epona, which is called to recall this old tradition and Budapest has the Spanish School on its style too, just like Vienna.
The horses are imported andalusian horses, which are of high value and all of them are extremely well-trained.The Andalusian, also known as the Pure Spanish Horse or PRE (Pura Raza Española), is a horse breed developed in the Iberian Peninsula. Its ancestors have been present on the Iberian Peninsula for thousands of years. The breed was used as a tool of diplomacy by the Spanish government, and kings across Europe rode and owned Spanish horses.
The school started their programs in 2009 at the Buda Castle, it has got 60 beautiful horses and several talented riders from the secondary school at the disposal of Epona at the moment. In the show partecipating 16 horses.
